Since 2008, I’ve been performing weddings. More than that, I’ve been helping people with no church or particular religious affiliation create meaningful ceremonies to celebrate their unions. This has felt like a “calling” and is something I hope to continue to do to an even greater extent. But in thinking about the process of creating wedding ceremonies, I realized that these same people – well, not the exact same people, but those with no church or religious affiliation – are increasingly giving up the opportunity for a formal farewell to their loved ones because they lack the tools
